Welcome 2015!

Can you believe the new year is already in full swing?

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

The last 6 weeks have flown by!  I’ve taken very little time to think about blogging.  There were several instances where I thought… hmmm, I’ll take some photos of our Christmas decorations, or I’ll do a DIY on this holiday craft I’m helping Milo with, or I should totally do a write-up on this yummy recipe… but I didn’t.  I enjoyed an amazing Christmas at home with the best little family a girl could ask for.

In my last post I mentioned that I had started writing a new novel.  And that’s exactly what I did… 85,000 words, 300 pages in under 4 weeks.  It’s a story I’ve thought about for a long time so it was easy to write.  There were days that I’d sit down to peck out a few paragraphs on my laptop and the next thing I knew I had written ten thousand words and five hours has passed!  Yay!  I wouldn’t normally be able to write that fast but November and December were full of vacation days! I finished it before Christmas and I’ve recently started to query agents.  I’ll keep you updated.

In other news:  (I despise bullet points, but a lengthy description of all this stuff would be silly)

  • I lost my phone at Target the day before Thanksgiving…  I thought I’d find it, but no dice.  I actually had to wait an entire week for a new one.  Now when I’m at Target I find myself with a death grip on my iPhone.
  • Matt injured his back somehow.  We ended up in the emergency room early one morning and have been to the neurologist several times since.  We thought it was getting better but then a few days ago he reinjured it and he is back to excruciating pain.  We are hoping to get more answers in the next 2 weeks.

  • Matt’s mom and uncle came to visit for a week.  We loved having them here and Milo was adequately spoiled!

  • Gage and his girlfriend Alyssa also came and visited for 2 weeks over Christmas & New Years.  I loved having them here and the house seems too quiet now that they have headed back to Baton Rouge.

And just a few other awesome memories from the last couple of weeks.

I got my haircut... wanted to go super short but Matt and Cady talked me out of it.

Oh.. AND. this girl finally got her braces after waiting YEARS.  Cady has a unique condition where she loses her baby teeth very late.  She still has a few baby teeth (even though she is in high school) and she has yet to get her 12 year molars – even though the average age those come in is actually 10.  She’s had an expander for a long time but finally her orthodontist decided he’d actually put some braces on. ha!  Better late than never.  She’d kill me for putting this photo on because she has on the tshirt she slept in and no makeup but I think she is beautiful, metal mouth and all.

That’s a little bit of what we’ve been up to lately.  Since finishing my latest manuscript I’ve been more in receive mode instead of express mode – lots of reading, movie watching and DVR binging.  Now that I’ve got a good start on agent querying, I’ll start to post more.  Happy 2015!
