Weekly Homekeeping (Me and Martha Series)

So remember that time I told y’all about Daily Homekeeping and I said I wasn’t sure how we’d do on weekly homekeeping?  I was surprised we did pretty well.  Some of these things we do more like every 2 weeks, but still – I was impressed with our cleaning.  I’m a reformed slob so I pat myself on the back if the house stays reasonable neat.

Throughout the House:

As far as the bathroom stuff.  I only wash the bath mats a few times a year…  I wipe down the counters at least weekly but then I do a deep cleaning of the bathroom about once a month.  It’s just what works for us.

I never vacuum the vents but I’m going to tell Matt to start doing this – he’s the one who vacuums.

Boiling water down the kitchen sink?  Does it count that we drain our ramen noodles over the sink?  Probably not.  I’ll try it. I do put ice in the sink disposal to sharpen the blades and lemon slices to freshen the smell.

And that whole business about wiping the inside of the oven and cleaning the inside of the kitchen trashcan? Ew.  I clean the oven maybe once a year (unless something spills, I do wipe that up).  Same with the kitchen trash can – if something spills, I’ll clean it up but I sure don’t clean it weekly.  ick.  Not sure I can add that to a weekly list.  Wonder if I can get one of the kids to take that task on?

Many of these I do on Thursday evenings or Saturday mornings.  Some vary from week to week.  Matt always empties all the trash/recycling on Tuesday nights in preparation for trash day early Wednesday morning.  We only pay bills once a month but I do sort them and put them in my inbox as they come in.

So how would you do with weekly homekeeping?  Honestly, I think if you did 70% of this stuff that would be great.  I mean 70 is passing, right?
