Visual Instructional Design Model

When designing a new learning experience, it is critical to include certain elements:

Before beginning, the instructional designer must understand the organization’s needs or gaps in knowledge.

While designing and developing the new learning experience, it is important that the experience align with identified needs or gaps.

At the point of piloting or launching the new course, special consideration should be made to capture any feedback and make changes or update the course as needed.

And finally, evaluation of the learning experience for all stakeholders is important to ensure the course/learning experience stays relevant and continues to meet the organization’s needs.

A pictorial of gears working together was chosen for this Instructional Design model to portray that gears can go back and forth (steps may need to be repeated or go out of order) and one gear cannot turn without the others.
