Philosophy on Learning
I openly share my philosophy on learning so that learning experiences that I am a part of can be as successful as possible. It is my hope that my philosophy is viewed as a partnership between learner and facilitator – one would not exist without the other.
What do I believe about Learning?
-
I believe that learning takes place when both learner and facilitator have agreed upon outcomes, and those outcomes have been achieved at the end of the learning experience.
-
I believe that learning takes place when both learner and facilitator are actively engaged in learning sessions.
-
I believe that learning takes place when both learner and facilitator are willing to improve, develop, and keep a positive attitude.
-
I believe that learning never ends. We are all learning every single day and will, hopefully, be learners until our last.

As a Learner you will:
-
Ensure you understand the learning outcomes, objectives, and agenda and respect them as the course flows. You will ask questions if there is confusion or if you need clarification.
-
Collaborate with your peers and share experiences in order to create a richer experience for everyone in class.
-
Give yourself (and your peers) the space to ask questions, improve, and fail safely as needed.
-
Be engaged, positive, and energized about the learning experiences you are part of.
As a Facilitator of Learning, I will:
-
Commit to setting learning outcomes, objectives, and agendas -and respect them when facilitating courses.
-
Allow participants/learners to collaborate and share past experiences to gain a new understanding/perspective of content.
-
Understand the needs of the learners and be creative and knowledgeable about how to meet those needs.
-
Realize I do not have all the answers and be willing to find the answers or learn along with the class.
-
Continually improve and develop my own skills to ensure I am up to date on learning technologies/trends.
-
Be engaged, positive, and energized about the learning experiences I am part of.
